Adicction and Decision Making: a brainy view.

Imagen
Why is this interesting? To answer questions such as how can we understand addictions within our brains? Why are people more affected than others? Is Decision Making relating to Drug addiction? In Bechara 2005 the following similarities between pathing with VMPC (see below, related to the decision making areas of the brain) damage and drug addicts are pointed out : often deny, or not aware, that they have a problem. When faced with a choice that brings immediate reward, even at the risk of incurring future negative outcomes, including loss of reputation, job, and family, they appear oblivious to the consequences of their actions. The above points out that there are similarities. How could define willpower in term of geography in the brain? Willpower as proposed on Bechara 2005: “... willpower emergers from the dynamic interaction of two separate, but interacting, neural systems: and impulsive system, in which the amygdala is a critical neural structure involved in triggering the affe

Super (mindful) Models

What is a super (mindful) models and why I should care? Super famous people are so far away, in the glamours style, movies, youtube, magazine so far from other people.  Always beautiful, always perfect, always making lots of money and  incredibly successful. Usually we forget about them. We stop watching them after certains ages and we do not see their problems or human life. Perhaps this is not what sells better. When someone writes an autobiography may do it for different reasons, certainly there are different advantages: 1) go back to the centre, 2) make some money, 3) add your figure , branch projects and so on 4) if you tell the history you select the way is portrait. As you can see there are incentives to hide key information or at least painful facts in our life. Don't we all do that at some extent? It can happen even unconsciously, via repression or similar. But all that reason is very interesting to see how the writer depicts a difficult situation and ho

Super (meditativos) Modelos

Reflecting about SIR models and some examples

Imagen
Reflecting about SIR models  and some examples Feel free to send me you thoughts either in comments or here . This only reflect my personal opinion, none of my employees at any time. Summary SIR model trendy, but they also have some caveats Looks like in Europe and the States the peak could be reach between May and July, with different amount of population affected by country given different policies implemented (so the model need time to incorporate that effect). Potential limitations: Summer could reduce prevalence. Data limitations, brief discussion below. But we are learning about Covid19, we did not have enough tests and so on. Intro After massive disruption for Covid19 everyone is concerned about what is going on and how this could evolve in the future. Massive disruption has occurred and all of us are noticing the consequences (such as compulsory stay at home measures, terrible amounts of deaths and so on). All of us want to help a bit and trying to

Hanley landscape painting

Imagen
Stoke-on-Trent is a polycentric city, something that confused my a lot at the beginning. I was searching for nice pics of the area online and this is one that caught  my attention. The picture is taken from Etruria, which is an emblematic industrial site of the area. You can see Hanley and in the centre the Regent Theatre. Original Pics From : https://metrouk2.files.wordpress.com/2017/06/668954532.jpg?w=748&h=498&crop=1 originally in this web: http://metro.co.uk/2017/06/29/14-reasons-stoke-on-trent-is-a-great-place-to-live-6740322/  Work in progress and final Pics I took recently I did not know exactly the place where the original was taken after I painted. It was really curious to visit the place you have spent time painting but you are not really been there before.

Industrial Landscapes in Stoke-on-Trent

Imagen
Initial inspiration: I live in the Stoke-on-Trent area. I am amazed about the history of the area and the particular kind of beauty of the industrial landscape. There are plenty of industrial sites and canals from the industrial revolution.  I cycle usually and that allow me to go around the canals. Every time I need to go to the Stoke-on-Train train station I will pass Penkhull. it is very curious that they keep two kilns by the canal. From Wikipedia:  https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Restored_bottle_kilns,_Stoke-on-Trent_-_geograph.org.uk_-_1578523.jpg   Initial drawing: I am fascinated by those kilns.  Working out the interpretation and final results: Initially I was thinking to do something based on Van Gogh particular style but applied to the pottery landscape. This is the final painting.  Some pics a took recently:
